Thanks to one of our great colleagues here at John Doe – Henrik Olsson – we are pleased to announce that all tests are passing for the modified avsc and kafka-avro libraries: they are now promise-based!
The libraries (which are found here avsc-keyruler, kafka-avro-keyruler) are key components in the greater project to build an “as seamless as possible” solution to encrypt/decrypt sensitive and/or personal data stored inside Kafka topics (the KeyRuler project). By modifying these libraries to use promises, we can do network requests as part of the encoding/decoding process.
Are we building this just for fun? Or just as a POC? Nope. We’ll shortly announce projects that we are currently working on which has strict regulatory requirements put on them – and this is where these projects truly will be put to the test!
